Acquired in May 2012 at bonsai nursery 't Veerle in St. Lenaerts, currently named Kikyo bonsai with Patrick Wynant as its new owner.
This Crab Apple now is 40cm tall with a nebari of 10 cm. It is far from a perfect bonsai, but full of character.
It's never shown back side with a prominent nebari.
Showing its right side where it orginally got a big chop, part of its uniqueness today.
The reward is a nice spring bloom this year. It will take many years still, but I'm happy with the progression.
To manage inverse taper, It needed some branches to be cut and a reshape with minimal wiring.
Our CrabApple in its so attractive autumn colors wearing some fruit left on the tree to complete the show. I managed to grow back a lost right back-branch that balances out the tree.
