"Each of both methods covers the weakness of the other. Cut and grow gives us taper, healing and a very natural flow of movement. But it is slow and it doesn't always give us the branches in the right place. Wiring gives us placing, accuracy and speed. Together they work in harmony.
Cut and grow builds the natural structure. Wiring finetunes the design. The balance between the two is what creates a tree that feels both natural and intentional."
Leafing out: the tree's kicking debut

A. p. KiyoHime planted in the garden in 2014. 10 years later, the now 14 year old tree will be lifted to become my first self grown bonsai.
